LA-based producer, curator and actor, Nicole Disson is known for her cross-genre artistic career and ability to cultivate talent.
Disson is founder and curator of THE SERIES, a multi-disciplinary live performance event that cross-pollinates a social experience with the performing and visual arts. Originally set at The Standard, Downtown LA from 2010–2012 and currently held Upstairs at Ace Hotel, THE SERIES pairs top and emerging talent in the fields of contemporary dance, sound art, music, playwriting, poetry, theatre and other performance and art disciplines—most of whom haven’t worked together previously—to collaborate on original pieces. Under THE SERIES umbrella, Nicole curated Live Arts Exchange (LAX)'s opening night launch events at The Bootleg Theatre for two consecutive years.
She has produced multiple short films and online content, including Sleepover LA by Lily Baldwin (SXSW, EFM Berlinale, Vimeo staff pick, NOWNESS), Fruits de Mer, by Hala Matar (set at Chateau Marmont and commissioned by NOWNESS), Entelechy by musician / activist Ariana Delawari (FLAUNT online premiere, CLIFF, Brooklyn Shorts) and Being Flat by Quentin Dupieux (Partizan for Red Bull Music Academy) and NIGHT OWL, a music video for Metronomy also directed by Dupieux. Most recently, she was the line-producer on a web series written and directed by Zoe Cassavetes called JUNIOR for BlackPills.
Disson has produced for renowned artists including ephemeral fine-artist Lita Albuquerque and choreographer Benjamin Millepied and his company, LA Dance Project. Disson served as project manager for L.A. Dance Project's fall residency at The Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA and repeatedly produced the company’s benefit gala. For Albuquerque, Nicole produced SPINE OF THE EARTH 2012 under The Getty Museum’s Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival and returned to work with Albuquerque in 2014 to produce AN ELONGATED NOW for Laguna Art Museum's Art & Nature Festival.
As a performer, Disson has acted in theatrical productions across the country, various independent films, commercials and was a founding member of the LA Ladies Choir. She is represented by CAA theatrically.
